There’s Praise, Then There’s Need-
In today’s lectionary passages from the Old Testament we see a prophet and then a king heap effusive, and yet humble praise on the Lord. Speaking of praise, Jesus tells a parable about the Pharisee and the Tax Collector, in which the Pharisee also offers praise to God—but there’s no humility in the Pharisee’s tone.
